As mentioned in the Mana entry, Mana is not evenly distributed throughout a Creation's body — the hands, for instance, contain the most, as they are constantly used for casting spells. However, some psionic magic requires direct manipulation through the brain, so mages' brains generally contain relatively more Mana. This facilitates casting such magic, but also makes it possible for other mages to manipulate this Mana and thereby control others' minds or even their behavior. Over the long course of evolution, Creations developed a mechanism to counter this threat: Mechania.
Biologically speaking, Mechania refers to the soft tissue on the inner side of the skull. This tissue is generally more developed in mages. It blocks foreign Mana from passing through — "foreign" meaning the Voiceprint does not match the individual (see Mana) — making mental manipulation considerably more challenging.
Mechania can be actively practiced and strengthened, and is also an important topic in Psychic Defense.
Sorcerers lack this structure, and Mechania also cannot prevent Sorcerers from manipulating others' minds, because Sorcerers have no Voiceprint (again, see Mana). This likewise makes it almost impossible to manipulate a Sorcerer's mind.
