The poem records in detail how Gelolade, a warrior among the hill subjects, challenged Gedo, the god of fate at the time, and succeeded in slaying the god. However, the reward for the hill subjects' courage was an endless curse—the Gelolade clan suffered even harsher punishment for their transgression, and this is the origin of Hillax.
